Subaru, where are you? [That's the frantic voice of your brother, struggling to hold on to the dreamberry as he threw on his coat.]

Kamui..I just left my apartment. I didn't feel it was safe there alone.

I am about to leave mine as well.[Kamui says a bit slowly. He was still a bit heartbroken that Subaru had decided to move out, but that wasn't important now.] Where are you headed? I'll meet you there.

[At the moment Subaru is hiding in the alleyway beside his building.]

I wasn't sure where to go..he could be anywhere.

He knows we're here already, and he probably figures we can't go to another world and evade him.

My guess is that he hasn't gone very far, and he's in no rush to find you. That can buy us some time.

[He places his back against the building and closes his eyes. His brother's words should be a relief but he can't help but feel conflicted.]

But buy us time for what? What good is it to resist when we have no ability to escape?

[ Those words were pretty logical, but Kamui didn't want to give up yet. He didn't want to tell himself that they have reached their end of the rope, and there was nowhere to run.

That it was possible that he could lose his brother. No he didn't want to believe that yet.]

I have still have no intention of having that man reach you. I don't care if we have to walk the entire desert to elude him.

You would leave all that you know in this place and escape..just for me? Even knowing we may never be able to escape him?

[As much as Subaru wants to believe he is the most important to Kamui, he knows there are ties to this city that he will be unwilling to sever. And though running with his brother is all he has ever been willing to hold onto, he wouldn't want to be the one to cause such sadness for him.]

....[Kamui found it hard to immediately say yes. If he had no attachments then that answer would have came easily. But now...things were complicated.

Even with how willing he was to run away from Seishirou with Subaru, in the back of his mind, he still felt he could return. And everything could go back to normal. What he's been accustomed to.

[That hesitation is all the answer that Subaru needed. He could not ask his brother to leave this place.]

I wish to understand what he wants, but doing so could come at the greatest of prices. One you have spent years trying to help me avoid paying. I'm not willing to let all that time be for nothing.

I don't know. I imagine it will depend on the answers. If he wishes to hunt to kill, then I will fight to live..or run to do so.

Though perhaps if he finally gets what he wants..at least then you could have the chance to stop running.

[John doesn't bother with a long message; he hardly knows what to say to begin with. 'Hi there, sorry I kicked you out of a flat that wasn't mine?' 'Being an arse is usually my flatmate's job?' He just attempts to work the dreamberry and hopes the vampire will pick up.]

[John sounds bemused; not that is comes as a surprise, of course. It just isn't often he hears it phrased in such a way.]

Then he's trusted you enough to talk about more than just cases, been comfortable with you under the same roof. That would make you pretty important too, I imagine.

Of course. It is only natural that we should learn more about one another. It is a little too bright for a walk right now..but perhaps we could meet at one of the local shops for tea.

[vampires and mid-day sun are not the best of mixes. It won't kill him but it will make him a little tired. There is slight hesitation before he decides to breech the subject to explain himself better.]

[However he should phrase it. He owes Subaru. Anything that will make the man more comfortable.]
